Kanye West admitted earlier this week that he punched an autographer who allegedly instigated him outside a West Hollywood club.
West, 44, said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he was outside the Soho Warehouse at 3 p.m. Thursday after a man who had been stalking him recently to get autographs allegedly provoked him.
“You don’t know what I’m dealing with right now,” I say, referring to the footage in which West captured the unidentified man.
‘I just finished these two songs, came back from the studio and this guy was like, ‘What are you going to do? And did you see?”
‘Let me just tell you, that blue COVID mask won’t stop that knockout, you know what I’m saying?’
He added that he was sorry at the time for his estranged wife Kim Kardashian, who filed for divorce and is currently dating Pete Davidson, and for a cousin who didn’t tell Kardashian that she wanted to visit one of their children at school.
‘Security cannot come between me and my children. And my kids won’t be on TikTok without my permission,’ Kanye said, repeating his message to Kardashian.
She also mentioned that she was upset about her budding romance with Davidson.
‘How can you blame me for acting and kiss the guy you’re dating right in front of me? Everyone says ‘that’s great’ and I hear my new boyfriend is at the house I couldn’t go to.’
Kanye West spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday to discuss the incident in which he admitted punching an autograph hunter who allegedly provoked him.
Kanye West was seen yelling at his cousin (left) after he punched a fan three times and knocked him down on Thursday morning.
While the fan (background) was following the West in West Hollywood on Thursday, the rapper was spotted out with his new girlfriend, Julia Fox.
West claims that the man he punched was not a fan, but was someone trying to make money by selling autographs he got from the rapper on January 10.
‘This is the same as the paparazzi, this is not a fan. This is someone who uses your image, who has probably never listened to your songs.’
Dramatic footage from the aftermath shows West yelling ‘Get away from me’ to his cousin, who was trying to calm him down by holding his head in pain as the autograph seeker lay on the floor.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that West punched the man twice in the head and once in the neck, hitting the ground and causing the fan to smash his head against the pavement.
His cousin was heard saying ‘I’m your family’ while holding the rapper’s hand and trying to comfort him.
‘No, stay away from me! No hand, no hand,’ West shouts.
“You should have talked to him,” he adds, revealing that he is now angry with his cousin for not telling his estranged wife that he wants to visit his child at school.
West accused the man of stalking him and selling autographs for money. West was spotted signing the man on January 10.
He eventually blamed his cousin for the bad mood that caused the audience to explode with anger after the discussion was videotaped by the confused people.
He said he eventually admitted to the attack because he was fed up with the media’s portrayal of the event and wanted to control the narrative.
‘This is the horse’s mouth. I’ve told you all before, you’re not fit to be responsible for my story, West told Entertainment Tonight’s Jason Lee.
‘I’ve told you before, I’m taking my story. I am writing the narrative. Why don’t you all go and do something, you know what I mean, other than trying to take someone down.’
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating the case and has yet to make any arrests, but has named West as a suspect.
Earlier on the evening of the event, West, after spending the evening with Madonna and Floyd Mayweather, was reportedly out on a star-studded dinner date with his new girlfriend, Julia Fox, at Delilah in West Hollywood.
The group’s morale seemed high after Diana Ross’ son, Evan Ross, shared the video footage on Instagram.
Kanye West and Julia Fox (left) were spotted with Madonna and Floyd Mayweather (right) at the Delilah nightclub in West Hollywood, early evening before the alleged altercation.
While it was previously reported that West’s new romance got under the skin of his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, sources claimed that Donda was happy to see the artist smile again.
West is no stranger to competing with the law. He was arrested for assaulting a photographer at Lost Angeles International Airport in 2014.
He was sentenced to 250 hours of community service, two years’ probation, and 24 anger management sessions.
He was also arrested in 2008 for vandalism and assault due to an altercation with two photographers at the same airport. The lawsuit was dismissed after the photographer paid for one of his broken equipment and agreed to participate in anger management counseling.
